The Black Art Today Foundation will award two $1,000 scholarships to two graduating high school students. Applicants must be residents of Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County, Montgomery County, or Prince George's County.
Applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in the visual, performing, or literary arts including music, dance, theatre, or other performing arts at an accredited college and/or university in the United States. Scholarship funds must be used for tuition, books, or other approved educational expenses.

Instructions and Criteria for Applying for Awards
1. Applicants must reside in Maryland and be a graduating Maryland High School student in Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County, Montgomery County or Prince George's County.
2. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average out of a possible 4.0.
3. Applicants must use the online form to complete the application (click apply now button). Applicants can submit their completed applications online(preferred method) or mail the completed applications to (Mailed applications must be received by June 30, 2023; applications received after this date will not be considered.)

4. Applicants must include all required documents. Incomplete applications and applications received by mail after the application deadline will not be considered.
5. Applicants must submit a minimum 500 word, maximum 1,000-word essay You may choose your essay from one of the following questions:
- Why do you want to be a writer/musician/performer/artist?
- Which one aspect of visual arts or the performing arts has motivated/inspired you?
- Which historical or contemporary writer, musician, artist or actor do you admire and why?
- Given unlimited opportunity and resources, how would you make your community a great place for the study, performance, or expansion of the arts?
6. Applicants must provide a minimum of two written statements by appropriate academic officials addressing the student’s academic achievement.
7. Applicants must provide at least two character references.
8. Applicants must provide an official transcript(s) from the applicant’s most recent school must accompany this application.
